There’s no denying it, most men have a preference for a particular area of a woman’s anatomy. Be it breasts, legs, bum or tum, we each have a preference that we find our eyes drawn to in those moments when we think she isn’t looking. And with women coming in so many delightful shapes and sizes, surely it is a blessing that we are not confined as a gender to all liking the same, where would be the variety, the interest, the thrill? But when it comes down to it, what is it that makes us favour a particular body part, surely it would make more sense for us all to have a facial style we find more captivating rather than an area of the body, yes long legs are nice but biologically speaking to they really have any beneficial function over a girl of a more average and proportioned height?
Since ancient times the heart has been considered a symbol for love and sexuality, perhaps considering the later it is of no surprise then to discover that some anthropologists and social biologists believe that the symbol of the heart in fact derives from the image of female buttocks. So with Valentines fast approaching and hearts (no matter what their original image is derivative from) are everywhere, so let us first consider those of us who favour the posterior.
Since early human history, even BC, images of human female beauty often were posed to reveal or even indeed draw attention to the rear of the female form, The ‘Venus of Willendorf’ being one such example. Perhaps it is due to this and the fascination with the female rear in its nude form that it is unsurprising that during perhaps the most sexually restricted eras of British history, i.e. that of the Victorian age, behind closed doors the fetish of spanking became the height of taboo fashion.
Perhaps it is partly because of the restricted behaviour of the era that spanking became so prevalent, in an era where it was unusual to glimpse more than a hint of a woman’s true figure and touch was restrained to a bare minimum it seems logical that many people may conceal a desire to touch and indeed make their mark upon the bare flesh of another.
Indeed corsets and bustles became a staple part of a woman’s attire as female society sought to emphasise their derrieres. Times have not changed that drastically, American culturist Ray Brown has written extensive articles as to how sexual focus on the female rear has continued in modern times with the popularity of denim jeans, “where even the label itself, stitched as it is upon the rear pocket gives more accentuation to the posterior”.
Preference towards size and shape of a woman’s derriere seems dependent upon cultures but one of the most favoured parts of a woman amongst men in Western society, with the well rounded bottom and hips being the most favoured mark of beauty amongst artists. It seems that along with breasts, a woman’s bottom has indeed become a focus point of our culture and with fashion and liberation as it is women are now readily embracing the chance to show off their curves and beauty for people to enjoy, our lovely ladies are testament to that, but what is there for those who prefer the other eye catching parts of the female anatomy, what is the mystery there? Our next blog piece will surely reveal more.
